The third installment of ISoFT has come and gone, and based on what I have heard and read, it was a big success. Fluorous Technologies Inc. was proud to sponsor the ISoFT’09 Award, especially for such a deserving awardee in Professor Ilhong Ryu. Professor Ryu’s seminal work in phase vanishing aspects of fluorous chemistry has continued to evolve, steadily adapting an increasing variety of chemistries to this novel method. Since I couldn’t be there to say it in person- congratulations, Ilhong, on both the award and your contributions to the fluorous field!

ISoFT’09 Report
The 3rd International Symposium on Fluorous Technologies was held in conjunction with the 19th International Symposium on Fluorine Chemistry in Jackson Hole, WY from Aug 23-27. The event was a great success from both a scientific and networking perspective. In addition the venue provided a beautiful setting for an array of outdoor activites. The organizers of the meeting are to be congratulated for a job well done. A lot of effort was clearly put into the planning and execution of the conference that was certainly appreciated by all of the participants.

F-Blog Reports from ISoFT’09
Our blog dedicated to “All Things Fluorous” provided daily reports from ISoFT’09 highlighting some of the scientific presentations and posters along with some of the other activities. The range of research and applications presented at the conference was truly vast with synthetic, analytical, physical, and biological chemistry all being represented. In addition to the daily reports, over the next few weeks F-Blog will continue to post entries detailing some of the research presented. For those of you who were at the conference or who presented your research, we encourage you to contribute to F-Blog through commenting or contacting us directly at Fluorous Technologies with suggestions and feedback.
ISoFT’09 Presentations and Posters
