Fluorous Technologies, Inc. (FTI) announced today that Dr. Philip E.
Yeske has been named president and chief executive officer of the
company. Dr. Yeske, 40, was most recently acting president and chief
operating officer of FTI, spearheading the company's early-stage
growth and initial business development efforts. Under his
direction over the past two years, the company tripled in size and
successfully commercialized its first products for pharmaceutical
R&D. Dr. Yeske also led fundraising efforts for the company,
including a multi-million dollar Series A round that is still in
progress.
"I am honored by the appointment and the opportunity," said Dr. Yeske. "FTI has made great strides in the early establishment of fluorous chemistry as a viable commercial technology and that is a testament to the hard work of the entire staff. I look forward to working with everyone on the team to take FTI to a completely new level of success."
Prior to joining FTI, Dr. Yeske spent nine years in the Bayer Group, including a four-year assignment at the concern's Leverkusen, Germany-based headquarters. Over his career at Bayer, Dr. Yeske held various positions of responsibility, including assignments in research, marketing and global account management.
"When Dr. Yeske joined the nascent company two years ago, FTI was not yet ready for a President and CEO," said company founder Professor Dennis P. Curran of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Chemistry. "But FTI has grown enormously through the dedication and hard work of the technical and business team that Dr. Yeske has assembled. The appointment of Dr. Yeske to the top position in the company is a statement that both FTI and Phil have arrived. Under Phil's direction, expect to see even bigger and better things from FTI, and soon."
